Pole tower is a common tool of power transmission line and plays a very important role in the power transmission system. It is also divided into many types, and I will introduce it to you below.

Sort by structure:

According to the structure, pole towers can be divided into two types: freestanding towers and pull towers. A freestanding tower is a pole tower that is stabilized on its foundation. The stay tower is to install symmetrical stay wires on the tower head or tower body to support the tower stably, and the tower itself only bears vertical pressure. This kind of tower saves nearly 40% of steel, but the cable distribution area is large, which is not conducive to the farming of agricultural and forestry machinery, and its use is limited.

The pull-type tower has good mechanical properties, can resist the influence of storm attack and disconnection, and has a stable structure. Therefore, the higher the voltage, the more traction towers are used.

Categorized by function:

According to the function of use, pole towers can be divided into bearing towers, straight towers, transposition towers and large-span towers. According to the number of loops of the transmission line erected on the same tower, it can be divided into single-circuit, double-circuit and multi-circuit towers. The load-bearing tower is an important structural link on the transmission line. It is installed in sections to anchor the wire's tensile insulator strings to the tower and to withstand the hanging tension of the wire and ground, as well as unbalanced tension in the event of an accident. Such towers facilitate segmented construction and limit the scope of accidents during operation.

The load-bearing pole tower can be divided into tension tower, corner tower and end tower. Linear towers are commonly used structures on production lines. It only undertakes the suspension function of the wires and ground wires and the weather load. The technical design data of the linear tower is the key to determine the economic indicators of the entire production line.

A transposition tower is a pole tower that enables the transposition of wires to balance transmission line parameters. China uses 60 to 80 km as the full cycle of the transposed segment (some countries have a 200 km non-transposed line). A large-span tower refers to a large-span tower that spans a navigable river. In this way, a series of inconveniences caused by installing iron towers in the river can be avoided, and double-circuit pole towers are usually designed.
